Tomlinson and Mackreth started for Town and Amond and Pittman started on the bench.

Wrexham had the better of the first half hour but Town managed not to concede during that time.

Town improved in the last 15 minutes and created a couple of half chances their own in the closing minutes of the first half.

Town once again struggled in the second half and Wrexham came closest from a free kick when McKeown made an outstanding save to deny the home side.

Wrexham continued to press and it looked only a matter of time before the home team scored while Grimsby presented very little attacking threat at all.

Hurst finally made a change with 15 minutes left bringing Pittman and Marshall on for Bogle and Tomlinson. It almost paid immediate dividends when Disley put the ball in the net but it was disallowed for offside.

The full time whistle went and Town's first clean sheet of the season had been acheived, but no away goal to end a run going back over a year.
